Students are required to comply with the registration and fee payment procedures and the deadlines set out below:
1. Payment of Tuition Fees
Before registering, students must pay the fees for at least 12 credit hours in accordance with the attached schedule of credit-hour rates, in addition to semester registration and student services fees (this includes but is not limited to technical services).
Students expected to graduate who have fewer than 12 credit hours remaining to complete their study plan are exempt from this minimum; they pay the fees for their remaining credit hours, in addition to the semester registration fee.
Students must pay the remaining balance of their university fees once their registration has been confirmed by the Faculty, no later than the end of official working hours on Tuesday 13 October 2026.
Fees are to be paid using the following details:

2. Online Registration Dates
| Student Category | Registration Date |
|---|---|
| Students expected to graduate at the end of the First Semester who have 21 credit hours or fewer remaining to complete their study plan | Tuesday 6 October 2026 |
| Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above | Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 October 2026 |
| Students at academic risk with a cumulative GPA below 2.00 | Friday 9 October 2026 |
3. Registration Rules and Study Load
A student's study load is determined by their cumulative GPA. The academic adviser must guide the student in selecting courses appropriate to their academic standing, to help them improve their GPA and avoid dismissal resulting from academic warnings.
For reasons relating to the organisation of registration and student capacity, the Faculty Deanship may transfer a student between sections of the courses in which they are registered. The student's registration in those courses is retained and no timetable clash is created, but the lecture times chosen at registration are not guaranteed.
Courses with recurring failure rates, and courses required for graduation, will be offered to help students complete their study plans and raise their cumulative GPA.
Study load and course registration priorities in all Faculties are determined according to the following table:
| Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) | Study Load | Course Registration Rules |
|---|---|---|
| 2.00 and above | 12 to 18 credit hours | The student may register for the courses available to them under their study plan, provided that course prerequisites are met. |
| 1.90 to 1.99 | 12 to 18 credit hours | The student must first register for any failed courses on offer, then complete their study load in accordance with the approved academic regulations. |
| 1.75 to 1.89 | 12 to 18 credit hours | The student must first register for any failed and conditionally passed courses on offer, then complete their study load with the courses they are permitted to register for. |
| 1.50 to 1.74 | 12 to 16 credit hours | The student must first register for any failed and conditionally passed courses on offer, and may add new courses totalling no more than 4 credit hours to complete their study load. |
| 0.00 to 1.49 | 12 to 15 credit hours | The student must first register for any failed and conditionally passed courses on offer, and may add new courses totalling no more than 4 credit hours to complete their study load. |
A student may register for 3 credit hours above the permitted maximum, provided the total load does not exceed 21 credit hours, if their GPA in the previous semester was at least 3.00.
For graduation purposes, a student in good standing may register for up to 21 credit hours. This does not apply to students referred to Remedial Study.
A student in good standing may retake a course they have already passed, provided that the total credit hours of passed courses retaken does not exceed 15 credit hours over the whole of their university studies.
Students may view the draft teaching timetables through the official Faculty communication groups.
The Faculty Dean decides on requests for drop and add, registration of new courses and exceptions, in accordance with the approved regulations, and processes approved requests on the academic system within the available permissions and the specified period.
4. Remedial Study
Remedial Study is governed by Council of Higher Education Decision No. 21 of 2015 and its amendments, in accordance with the following instructions:
- A student in Remedial Study, whatever their cumulative GPA, may register a study load of no fewer than 12 and no more than 15 credit hours.
- The student must first register for all failed courses on offer, then complete their study load with the available conditionally passed courses.
- A student in Remedial Study may not register for new courses, except in the following two cases:
- A student whose cumulative GPA is between 1.75 and 1.99 and who has no failed courses on offer may register for a maximum of three new courses, completing their study load with conditionally passed courses, without exceeding the permitted maximum.
- A student whose cumulative GPA is between 1.00 and 1.74 and who cannot reach the minimum of 12 credit hours from failed and conditionally passed courses may register for one new course on offer, or one previously passed course, solely to bring their study load up to 12 credit hours.
- A student in Remedial Study may not drop a failed or conditionally passed course already registered and add a new course in its place, in accordance with the registration rules set out above.
5. Start of Classes and the Drop and Add Period
Classes for the First Semester of the 2026/2027 academic year begin in all Faculties on Saturday 10 October 2026.
The drop and add period begins on Saturday 10 October 2026 and ends at the close of official working hours on Tuesday 13 October 2026. Drop and add procedures are completed through the Faculty offices.
Students must register for the minimum of 12 credit hours. This does not apply to a student expected to graduate who has fewer than 12 credit hours remaining to complete the graduation requirements.
6. Late Penalties and Course Withdrawal
No late penalties are charged during the registration and drop and add periods. Penalties apply once the drop and add period has ended, as follows:
- Late payment penalty: a penalty of 20% of the outstanding balance of fees due for the First Semester.
- Late registration penalty: a penalty of SYP 1,000 (new currency) for students who register late for the First Semester.
- Withdrawal from a course with a grade of (W): students do not recover the credit-hour fees for a course from which they withdraw with a grade of W after the drop and add period has ended.
7. Regulations on Late Withdrawal and Suspension of Studies
Applications for late withdrawal from one or more courses open after the drop and add period has ended. The student receives a grade of W in the course withdrawn from; the course appears on the student's transcript but is not counted in the semester or cumulative GPA, and the course fees are not refunded.
If a student wishes to withdraw from all registered courses, the semester is treated as suspended. It appears on the transcript but is not counted in the cumulative GPA, the fees for the registered hours are not refunded, and the semester counts towards the maximum period of study.
The deadline for applications for late withdrawal or suspension of studies is one week before the start of the final examinations.
